Jessica Andrade, a UFC strawweight contender, had just fought champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk in a title match in Dallas. Unfortunately for Andrade, her title bid was unsuccessful, and she lost the UFC 211 fight by way of a unanimous decision.

As is the tradition after title bids, the unsuccessful fighter was interviewed in the ring. In her native Portuguese, Brazilian Andrade conveyed her respect for Jędrzejczyk’s skill and dominance in the match-up and spoke of her disappointment in her own performance: “I came here to be champ, but I’m still early in my career. I will still be coming back,”

After this Jessica carried on, through a translator and said

“Today, I’d like to make a special request to my girlfriend, Fernanda, who is here, I want to ask her in marriage.”

This may not be the first time a professional athlete has proposed on camera, but it is the first time a UFC fighter has done so.

The translator was obviously the first to know, and this was how he reacted, look at that little smile.

Interviewer Joe Rogan and most of the crowd, had no idea what was happening until the translator had shared her request in English. This was the response from Jessica’s girlfriend, Fernanda.

Best wishes to the happy couple, may they have every happiness.
