The “First Daughter” Ivanka Trump has released a second book Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success and it has met with reviews that range from “vapid” and “witless” to “a strawberry milkshake of inspirational quotes” and “a grab-bag of generic work-life advice for upper-middle-class white women.”
It reads like a strange Pinterest board put together by a woman who fails to realize that hard work is necessary but that her money and privilege has done most to get her to where she is today. Even Trumps concept of hard work would be different from most peoples.
Women who juggle two or three part-time jobs, their children, school responsibilities, and outgoings way more than their income no matter how hard they try have one view of hard work. That view is very different to a wealthy, privileged working mother with nannies, household help and a school who would never dream of giving them a hard time in case they withdrew their little darlings and took their massive tuition fees with them.
Anyway, I digress….
Sometimes it is the little things that can make us happy. A cute picture of a cat, the humorously misspelled homework of a five-year-old that is unintentionally explicit or, in this case, the genius book display enthusiast that changed the shelf around Ivanka’s book to cheer us all up.
In case you cannot make out all of the titles they are:
- Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents
- Children of the Self-Absorbed
- The New Co-Dependancy
- Disarming the Narcissist
- The Fatherless Daughter Project
- No More Narcissists!
- Toxic Parents – Overcoming Their Hurtful Legacy and Reclaiming Your Life
