The Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain would’ve been 50 today. He took his own life in 1994 at the age of 27.
Charles R. Cross, who has written three books on the artist, said:
“He remains the most important musician of the last two decades in music, with an album that is still one of the last great rock records.”
He expressed a wide range of emotion in his songs. He chronicled his struggle with bipolar disorder in his song, Lithium.
Many younger people are discovering his music, which is great. I love to think about what he would be doing today. The band may not have lasted this long, but I imagine they would’ve made more great music through the 1990s.
His daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, wrote this touching note to her father:
