Grocery Chain Now Facing Boycott Over Trump Wine (VIDEO)

Wegmans, a Rochester, NY based grocery chain that has 92 chain locations across the mid-Atlantic, is now facing a major boycott over wine that they carry in at least eleven of their locations.

Besides the major hotel business, and the rest of Trump’s failed ventures, there is a small vineyard in Charlottesville, VA that Trump pumps out mid-priced wines. Wegmans has been carrying the wine from this vineyard since 2008, which was before Trump owned it.

However, due to the high demand for businesses to make a statement by dropping the Trump brand, a resistance against he grocery chain is forming and they have demanded they remove the wine which includes bottles like Trump Blanc de Blanc and Trump Winery Chardonnay.

The Prince William County chapter of the National Organization for Women are planning to put pressure on the chain to remove the wine from their stock. Terry O’Neil, president of the National Organization stated:

Certainly if Wegmans is carrying Trump wines, I personally will not shop there.

Wegmans didn’t seem to care much about the possible boycott and played their choice to carry the wine as a move to carry what the customer buys, though I can’t see Trump’s wine flying off the shelf. Wegmans stated:

Our role as a retailer is to offer choice to our customers. Individual shoppers who feel strongly about an issue can demonstrate their convictions by refusing to buy a product. When enough people do the same, and sales of a product drop precipitously, we stop selling that product in favor of one that’s in greater demand.

And finding people to not buy the product doesn’t seem like it will be too hard considering the National Organization of Women, just in the chapter above, holds 300 members. Other residents are also speaking out. Claire, a Wegmans shopper stated:

I shop pretty exclusively at Wegmans but seeing Trump wines on the shelf, that’s really bothersome to me. I guess I’ll have to go to Shoppers now.

Hopefully by the end of Trump’s time in office he can enter back into a business world that doesn’t have much room for him or his daughter for that matter.
