With so much resistance to President Donald Trump, it’s hard to believe that anything good has come out of this nightmare. A principal from Lexington, Kentucky has somehow managed to find the silver lining.
Gerry Brooks uploaded a short video with products to help stop bear attacks in schools. If you’re scratching your head on that one, you’re not alone. Before our new fascist took office, America wasn’t aware that bears were getting into schools and threatening kids while they were forced to learn Common Core.
Trump’s Secretary of Education pick, Betsy DeVos, lead Americans to believe that schools in Wyoming have a problem with grizzlies.
Democrat Chris Murphy of Connecticut asked DeVos at her confirmation hearing:
“Do you think that guns have a place in or around schools?”
He was referring, of course, to all of the mass shootings. Some people seem to believe the answer to violence is easier access to violent weapons. DeVos responded by saying:
“I think that’s best left to locales and states to decide.”
After questioning why she couldn’t say for sure whether or not guns should be in schools, DeVos replied:
“Well, I will refer back to Senator Enzi and a school that he was talking about in Wapiti, Wyoming. I think probably there, I would imagine that there’s probably a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies.”
It’s since been confirmed that while that town does have grizzlies, the schools there don’t have guns. Namely because the bears aren’t breaking down windows or opening doors to get in.
Brooks has come out with some backups though, just in case DeVos encourages that school to arm themselves with guns. His inventions won’t result in another school shooting, either. Not that most people agree that a mentally unstable student would find a way to steal a gun from a teacher. Accidents never happen.
The items are pretty simple: a spray, some glitter, and Spam. Nothing that needs ammunition or a clip. Just something you can carry in your purse, bring to art class, and eat for lunch.
If you’re desperate for food, that is.
Here’s to hoping DeVos goes this route instead of lock, stock, and barrel with kids just trying to get an education.
