Oops, the State Department did it again. In just two weeks, the State department has hit the “delete” button when they received several complaints that they were promoting business endeavors of the Trump family.
This time, a State Department agency, the Office of Global Women’s Issues retweeted Ivanka Trump’s tweet about her book.
Her original tweet read:
“Thank you to my beautiful sisters for the support of my #WomenWhoWorkBook!”
— Ivanka Trump (@IvankaTrump) May 4, 2017
Yes, the office’s mandate is to “promote the rights and empowerment of women and girls through U.S. foreign policy.”
But even if Ivanka’s book is in line with the agency’s mandate, people made sure the agency realized that Ivanka is a part of the presidential family and that promoting her endeavors will mean that they are promoting endeavors of the said family.
Ivanka has then canceled her book tour in order to avoid a breach of ethics, saying in her statement:
“Out of an abundance of caution and to avoid the appearance of using my official role to promote the book, I will not publicize the book through a promotional tour or media appearances.”
