Florida Girl Helps Grieving Families Of Fallen Police Officers

in Life/Win by

Florida teen Megan O’Grady, daughter of a police officer, started a beautiful organization, “Blue Line Bears,” to help the families of fallen officers. She takes their uniforms and makes teddy bears with them.

She personalizes each bear with the officers’ badges and stripes. She presented the first batch this week.

Johnny Brinson, who received the first bear made from his mother’s uniform, said:

“I always hugged her in her uniform – even before she went to work, while she was on duty. Because we were that close – we talked every day, every hour.”

“Seeing this patch, feeling it again … I’m very thankful for it, to make it – it’s amazing. I love it. I really do.”

Megan said that making each bear was an emotional experience:

“It’s kind of different when you realize this shirt actually belonged to someone and it’s not just one your dad brought home for you. It’s one for a family.”
