This years British Academy Film Awards has always been strongly supported by the royal family, the Duke of Cambridge being the president of BAFTA, but this year Prince William and Kate Middleton will be personally attending. The Prince will also be presenting one of the highest awards given during the ceremony, the Fellowship.
BAFTA chief executive, Amanda Berry, despite Rupert Murdoch’s tabloid claim that the organization feared their presence would over shadow the actors, is extremely excited to have the Prince and wife in attendance. Berry stated:
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are fantastic supporters of BAFTA. We very much look forward to welcoming Their Royal Highnesses at the EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday February 12.
