With so much happening with the United States government, more and more people are standing up for their rights and taking it the streets in protest. In my thirty something years of life I have never seen so many people marching each and every day for what they believe is wrong.
Well, Insane Clown Posse, popular alternative horror rap group, are no exception and are planning a serious march on Washington on September 16th. If you think this is just a publicity stunt, you couldn’t be further from the truth. ICP’s fan base has been somewhat of a controversial topic for years and the FBI actually labeled them a gang, to which ICP sued them for. The website states:
We tried to use the American judicial system to achieve justice and we failed…to be sure, this is NOT a party. Juggalos have been unfairly stigmatized and discriminated against simply for identifying as being part of a particular music-based subculture. If you’re not serious about being there, just stay home.
As an outsider, and not fan of ICP, it is hard not to connect hoodlum young kids in makeup committing petty crimes in the name of the group but as with any musician there are bound to be “gang-like” followers. Either way, they have every right to have their voices heard in peaceful protest.
