From 1985 to 1992, millions of viewers sat down weekly to see the antics of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia in the hit NBC show The Golden Girls, which has been named one of the best TV shows of all time by countless publications. The award winning show also gave us the equally as awesome spin-off, Empty Nest (but we try to forget about The Golden Palace as much as possible). The series also became one of three sitcoms to have all of its main cast win an Emmy for their work.
With Betty White’s recent comeback into the mainstream, the show’s popularity skyrocketed. Last year, Funko gave the show some love by immortalizing its characters with POP! vinyl figures. Streaming service Hulu recently announced that all 180 episodes of the series will arrive for everyone’s streaming pleasure starting on February 13, which will make this an early Valentine’s Day present.
You’ll be able to watch all of the classic Golden Girls episodes, including “Love Under The Big Top”, “Isn’t It Romantic?”, “Old Friends”, and the two part series finale “One Flew Out of the Cuckoo’s Nest”.
This news comes days before the sneak peek of the brand new Golden Girls café titled the Rue La Rue Café opening in New York City later this year. The new spot was created by Michael J. LaRue, who was old friends with the late Golden Girls actress Rue McClanahan. As expected, there will be special meals named after the four characters.
New Hulu subscribers can get the service for only $7.99 a month, but those looking to get away from those pesky ads on most programming available can drop $11.99 monthly. If you’re not in the mood for streaming services, you can still pick up the series on DVD or continue to watch it in syndication on the Hallmark Channel and TV Land.
