Through all of the holiday chaos of dealing with relatives, putting on extra weight, and sleeping off an eggnog hangover, there’s something you may have missed—Run the Jewels dropped their third installment.
The hip-hop supergroup, consisting of Killer Mike and El-P, have found their permanent niche in the grungy, hardcore rap corner. They cover anything from the latest political tension to anything that makes your stomach turn.
All that taken into account, how could you possibly miss the album’s release? Let’s hear what their main album campaign strategist Carrie Brownstein has to say:
“Everyone takes a pill. When you poop it out, a literal album drops.”
That’s right. Portlandia’s Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen have teamed up with Run the Jewels to create this promotional video for their respective projects. And it’s hilarious.
Other than this video and a single released in October, there was no lead time or press work whatsoever.
That’s right; they pulled a Beyoncé.
Beyond that, the shit pill is a bit overboard. The album is grimy enough on its own.
